How to Master Your Mind: An Intro

The following is a guest post by Stephanie Trager, JD. Stephanie is a business strategist and soul success coach, and founder of of Intentional Paradigms, LLC.

What happens when you’re ready to get your physical body in shape? You think which diet, which program, which routine you can create in your life to will help you ‘watch’ your weight and improve your physical fitness.

If you’re really serious about this change, you’re going to take a look at what triggers certain eating patterns. You also realize this program will engage both mental and physical activity (thought and action). The good old program my mom used to do was ‘Weight Watchers’. How does this apply to leadership and advancing with one’s professional goals?

One of the biggest culprits to not achieving real results from goals we set has nothing to do with your environment or circumstances. Those are just effects. When you want to get to the bottom of what’s holding you beneath a certain ceiling, arm’s length or further-from achieving your goals, you must look at CAUSE. The cause is born in the mind and executed through thought.

The ultimate goal achievement lesson isn’t about ‘take action’. Yes it’s given you must take action to move toward the goal. Yet people bump up against the same sabotage every time. It may take on different characteristics (effects) yet it’s causing the same stuckness which confirms the same inner hidden belief (cause).

Inner hidden beliefs were born a long time ago and have taken on wonderfully deceiving appearances. They remain elusive because changing these beliefs would rock the foundation of who you believe you are. So you’ve developed wildly smart thought patterns to distract from the cause and place blame on the environment, surroundings, other people, circumstances. These are just the effects. We all do it.

For real sustainable and powerful change you want to work at the level of Cause. Change the cause and the effects change. It’s the Law of Cause and Effect.

Stay tuned for the next post in this two-part series to learn 3 tips you can start using right away to reprogram your mind.

  1. “The cause is born in the mind” that says it all. … and so can be the spark that empowers us to take action. Nice post. Solid.

Great post Stephanie! I’m doing some deep work about changing my inner hidden beliefs and am finding it’s like a death… which can be really scary. The death of the familiar and safe, the death of who you used to be so you can birth the new you who thinks and acts differently! Looking forward to the series!

Maritza I appreciate your sharing how the deep dive is like a death. If our mind is the home of our personality, when we shed parts of ourselves, beliefs, mindsets, paradigms, it absolutely is like the death of someone we knew…and knew really well. It takes so much courage and I salute you. Most people don’t have the courage to do the deep dive and allow the death of the old, yet how else can the knew be reborn?

Thanks Fire Starters! I hope you enjoy part two!

  4. Agree that looking for the underlying cause is one of the key to achieve goals. Interesting view on that the cause is created by the mind. Look forward to the 2nd part.

Thank you Nerdy Creator, it’s empowering when we realize how we create every bit of our reality~ from our mind. The next part gives the ‘how to’!!
